VPN Internet Access
VPN Internet access is a network that is constructed by using public wires to connect nodes. VPN Internet access allows users working at home or on the road to connect in a secure fashion to a remote corporate server using the routing infrastructure provided by a public inter-network. From the users’ perspective, the VPN is a point-to-point connection between the users’ computer and a corporate server. The nature of the intermediate inter-network is irrelevant to the user because it appears as if the data is being sent over a dedicated private link. That’s VPN access. The VPN Internet Access connection across the Internet logically operates as a Wide Area Network (WAN) link between the sites. VPN access setup connections allow Windows XP clients to connect to a VPN remote access server. Some companies provide free VPN access for demonstration. Windows 2000 Professional VPN access has built-in support for VPN connections. A VPN Internet access allows users to securely connect to a private network through a public network such as the Internet. A VPN Internet access, which provides the same level of security as any private network is the logical equivalent of a wide area network between two different sites. The primary reasons for selecting VPN deployment are scalability and performance, strength of security features, compatibility with our existing environment, lower support costs, and the ability to expand to meet other challenges by securing VPN access. One cannot access VPN wireless system without appropriate encryption effected into the communication. All this adds up to a lot of remote access through VPN connections to the organization's network. VPN Internet access connections may be made over the phone lines by directly dialing into a remote access VPN server on the network, or they may be made by VPN, using the Internet to "tunnel" into the corporate network. VPN clients cannot access VPN in any drive not physically installed on the VPN server.
